Non-Woven Polymer Nanofabric
Polymeryx was a partner in the design and development of the ViraShield Tm product line. The material is a non-woven electrospun polymer. Leveraging Polymeryx' extensive polymer processing experience with electrospinning, they partnered to create a nanofabric designed to capture particles down to 0.1μm with an average filtration efficiency of 99.969%, in accordance with ASTM F2299.
This filtration material is certified for medical use under ASTM F2100. This is a novel high-performance fabric created for microfiltration.
Electrospun nanofiber exhibit uniques properties:
-
High porosity
-
Large surface area to Volume ratio
-
High degree of interconnection
-
Modifiable functionality
The manufacturing is monitored and controlled for:
-
Morphology
-
Apparent density
-

Electrospinning
Technology
Creates a nanofabric consisting of millions of nanofibers that range is size from 150nm -270nm in diameter.
They build a continuous layer creating a tortuous path to trap particles.
